On June 17th, as one of the important contents of the 2024 Langfang Economic and Trade Fair, the opening ceremony of the 2024 International Society of Logistics and Transport Annual Conference and the Global Supply Chain Sustainable Development Conference were held in our city. Several heavyweight guests focused on the forefront of global supply chain sustainable development and gave wonderful speeches, providing ideas and suggestions for building an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable global supply chain system, and jointly exploring the challenges and opportunities faced by the logistics industry.
The International Society of Logistics and Transport is one of the world's largest and most influential organizations in the logistics and transport industry. As the flagship event of the logistics and transportation industry, the International Conference is an important gathering of global logistics professionals every year. It is not only a barometer of industry development, but also an important platform for international exchange and cooperation. The theme of this year's International Society of Logistics and Transport Annual Conference is "Leading the Sustainable Development of Global Logistics and Transport". Over 300 guests from more than 70 countries and regions around the world gathered in Langfang to explore how to empower the industry with green, intelligent, and efficient development through innovation and cooperation.
At the subsequent Global Conference on Sustainable Supply Chain Development, Kamgit Singh, President of the Singapore Branch of the International Society of Logistics and Transport, delivered a keynote speech on "Supply Chain Resilience"; Huang Youfang, Director of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Logistics Majors in Chinese Ministry of Education, former President of Shanghai Maritime University, and Academician of the International Society of Logistics and Transport, gave a speech on "Several Strategic Directions for the Development of Global Supply Chain"; Dr. Farid Arthur, National Coordinator of Ghana for the African Continental Free Trade Area, delivered a keynote speech on "Diagnosis of Logistics and Transport Infrastructure for Economic Transformation"; Liang Qiyuan, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Transport and Logistics and former CEO of DHL International Express in the Asia Pacific region, delivered a keynote speech titled "My Insights on Our Industry". Several heavyweight guests focused on the forefront of sustainable development in the global supply chain and gave wonderful speeches, providing ideas and suggestions for building an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable global supply chain system, jointly exploring the challenges and opportunities faced by the logistics industry, and bringing valuable opinions to accelerate our city's integration into the global supply chain.
Liang Qiyuan, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Transport and Logistics and former CEO of DHL International Express in the Asia Pacific region: In terms of hardware, it mainly involves investment in new technologies, infrastructure, and so on. In this regard, I think that in the entire Chinese market, whether in Langfang or Hebei, the whole country is investing in this area, leading the world. In terms of software (components), I think the whole country and Langfang can also work harder. The first is the process requirements for some government agencies' licenses, approvals, etc., which can be simplified as much as possible. The second point is the optimization of internal processes within enterprises. The third point just mentioned is how to connect and integrate Langfang with different cities across the country, and even with major cities and economic systems in Asia and the world.
The conference also officially released the "Langfang Plan" for collaborative education between government, schools, and enterprises, as well as the "Top 50 Global Logistics Enterprises List". The Academician Workstation of the International Society of Logistics and Transport and the Innovation Cooperation Center of the International Society of Logistics and Transport were unveiled. Two major institutions have officially settled in Langfang, providing a high-end open platform to promote closer international cooperation in logistics, commerce, and engineering education, and to elevate the logistics and transportation industry in Langfang and even the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region to a higher level and wider range of fields.
Zhang Yu, Assistant Director of the Intelligent Logistics and Supply Chain System Research Center at Tsinghua University and Academician of the International Society of Logistics and Transportation: This reflects Langfang's high emphasis on academia and technology, as the workstation also has an innovation center. Langfang is not the only city we want to introduce, but we have achieved it. I believe that in the future, more academicians will be able to provide suggestions and recommendations for the development of Langfang, and more technological achievements will be transformed, incubated, and implemented here.
